Description
These artifacts take inspiration from ancient Corinthian armor components that can be traced back to the era around 500 BC. They were found in a tomb located in what is currently Southern Italy. Notably, the left greave is inscribed with the name ‘Denda’.
Components of hoplite armor similar to these played a crucial role in an ancient Greek athletic discipline called hoplitodromos, which featured prominently in the ancient Olympic Games and various other Panhellenic festivals.
